3 Ways to Supercharge Your Health This Summer

We’ve got summer on our mind! And with the new season just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to commit to pursuing health and wellness. Summer brings a season of ease–warmer weather, plentiful fresh produce, lots of daylight, and easy access to the outdoors. Now is the ideal time to hone in on your health goals and develop habits that sets you up for a healthy fall, winter, and beyond.

Our advice? Start small. The smallest habits are often the most effective! They also cumulate, meaning that over time they build on each other to create dynamic change. Supercharge your health this summer with these 3 small but mighty habits:

  1. Make 1 meal a day a salad.
This guarantees that you’ll be eating at least one meal that’s full of colorful veggies. Make sure to load your salad bowl up with protein and fat as well to help you stay satisfied. Top your greens with other veggies of choice (like carrots, cucumbers, cabbage, peas, bell peppers, etc.), a protein source (chicken, fish, boiled eggs, steak, etc.), and some fat (olive oil, avocado, nuts, etc.). To make meal prep easy, consider keeping jars of chopped veggies in your fridge throughout the week.

  2. Get outside for 30 minutes a day.
Exposure to natural light and fresh air can increase alertness and regulate circadian rhythms (hello, better sleep!). Outdoor exercise can reduce stress and improve mood. Make it your goal to spend at least 30 minutes each day outside, whether that’s for a walk or other exercise, a picnic, or even just on your porch with a book. Nature and fresh air have incredible healing power. Take advantage of it in the summer months!

  3. Add sea salt to your water.
No matter how much water you drink, you may not be properly hydrated if you don’t have enough electrolytes. Sea salt is a wonderful natural source of electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. You can easily add a pinch of salt to your water throughout the day to incorporate these vital nutrients. Learn more about electrolytes and how to make your own electrolyte water in this post.
